The Installation Process
Although we do provide an installation service, some prefer to carry out the groundwork and fitting of the synthetic grass themselves. Whilst we would also be more than happy to provide any information or guidance to you on 01360 621919, we have included guidelines on the process below to help you along:
Area Preparation
Measure the total area of the garden so that the amount of artificial grass required is known. It is also useful to plan out which way the artificial grass will be facing as it comes in rolls 4m wide and looks at its best when facing the same direction throughgout the garden.
Remove the existing turf using a spade or a turf cutter, rolling the turf up and disposing of it.
We suggest that weed-killer is used around the edges and an anti-weed membrane is placed over the surface in order to prevent any plants or weeds growing through.
Groundwork
Depending on the drainage situation and the soil underneath, it is recommended (but not always required) that 50mm hardcore be put down and compacted to form a solid base. Sharp sand is then spread on top, compacted and levelled so that a flat surface is achieved in order for the synthetic grass to be positioned onto.
Timber or concrete edging that protrude above the level of the synthetic grass will give the garden a good finish and also help to ensure the infill remains inwith the boundaries.
Synthetic Grass Installation
Lay the synthetic grass carefully into position the same way as planned with the edges lined up against one another and flattened out. It may be best to leave it for a couple of hours to enable any creases to flatten out.
Placing the specialised 300mm tape underneath the seams and ensuring the edges are lined up as best as possible you may begin gluing the synthetic grass seams down by spreading glue over the tape and simultaneously pressing the edges down onto it, being careful to prevent any fibres getting trapped.
Finishing touches
Using a sharp knife, carefully trim all of the edges of the synthetic grass to provide a tidy finish, disposing of any excess waste.
If required, evenly distribute silica sand over the surface using a brush in order to provide extra weight and keep the fibres of the grass upright providing extra depth.
Sit back, relax and enjoy your garden without the hassle of having to cut the grass or re-seed patchy areas.
